Things To Do
Visit the Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau for information about shopping, outdoor recreation, and plenty of other family-friendly activities.
The Georgia Museum of Art (just across the quad from the Hodgson School of Music) is a great place to spend a quiet hour between classes. If you're hoping to explore campus, take a self-guided UGA Campus Tour, take a short walk or hike at the UGA Intramural Fields (110 Lake Herrick Drive), or walk the North Oconee River Greenway Trails (including the East Campus Connector trail just outside the doors of the HHSOM). Both the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, complete with a new Children's Garden, and Memorial Park (including Bear Hollow Zoo, a playground, and a swimming pool) are just a short drive from campus. One of Athens' great festivals, AthFest & AthFest KidsFest will be happening downtown during Institute, too!
We also hope you'll check out some of these uniquely Athens businesses close to campus:
Avid Bookshop (Five Points)
Condor Chocolates (Five Points & Downtown)
Independent Baking Co. (Five Points)
Jittery Joe's Coffee (Five Points, Downtown, or East Side)
