Teacher Training: Violin Overview Course

The Atlanta Suzuki Institute is thrilled to offer teacher training opportunities with renowned SAA Teacher Trainers from across the United States. ASI is the perfect place to learn about the Suzuki approach and philosophy for the first time, or to hone and expand your teaching skills. All teacher training courses will be held online in 2021.

Teachers enrolled in training must be at least 17 years old, have a high school diploma, and be an active member of the SAA. Teachers may enroll as participants or auditors. To qualify as a participant, teachers must pass an audition submitted to the SAA. Participants who successfully complete a course will have the training registered with the SAA. Auditions are not required for auditors, nor will training be registered with the SAA.

Online Course

May 21-23, 28 & 30

Rather than a piece-by-piece approach as typical Unit courses tend to be, this Overview course will cover a variety of the overarching right arm/hand skills that present themselves throughout these three book levels. Topics to be discussed include, but are not limited to: bow division that invites the growth and maturation of tone, playing at the frog comfortably and with ease, developing a musical bow arm, and reinforcing and adding skills for beginning virtuoso playing.

The Violin Books 2-4 Overview  is a Supplementary course and the format includes lectures (15 hours) and student observation (8 hours). 100% attendance is required to register the course with the SAA. Participants must be active members of the SAA who have previously registered Every Child Can! and Violin Units 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Maximum enrollment: 10 participants
